Job Title: Georgia Conservation Voters Program Associate

Georgia Conservation Voters (GCV), a state-wide nonpartisan environmental advocacy organization with a strong legislative focus, seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Program Associate. GCV is an alliance of the Georgia League of Conservation Voters (501(c)4), the GCV Education Fund (501(c)3), and the GCV Action Fund (PAC) organizations which seeks to make protection of Georgia’s environment a top priority among candidates, public officials and voters. The successful candidate for the Program Associate position will have strong technical, communication, and organizational skills as well as a passion for environmental issues. He/she will be a team builder with high personal integrity. This position will report to the Executive Director.

 

Responsibilities include:


·         Serve as the administrator for the Georgia Environmental Action Network.

·         Manage necessary business systems; vendor contracts, board policies, and personnel and accounting records.

·         Author and distribute a weekly Legislative Monitor while the Georgia General Assembly is in session.

·         Coordinate the design and publication of the 2009-2010 Georgia Environmental Briefing Book. 

·         Assist the Executive Director and board of directors to raise annual budget by helping organize fundraising events, assist with grant proposals, and organize and produce direct mail solicitations.

·         Manage Voter File and Data Systems.

·         Help to produce GCV’s Georgia Legislative Scorecard, including content development and design.

·         Manage production and content of monthly e-newsletter.

·         Maintain and regularly update GCV website, www.gavoters.com.

·         Work collaboratively with other organizations and interest groups to advance the organization’s public policy agenda through education of decision-makers.

 

Relevant Qualifications and Experience: 

 

·         Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines required.

·         Excellent writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex concepts and be persuasive and provocative required.

·         Experience with Internet and online communications preferred.

·         Experience with Georgia state government and politics preferred.

·         Knowledge of or experience with Georgia environmental issues desirable.

·         Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.

·         Willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
