Executive Director Position Available

 

The Texas League of Conservation Voters, a state-wide bi-partisan environmental advocacy organization with a strong political focus, seeks dynamic leader to serve as CEO.  The TLCV is an alliance of a c(3), c(4), and PAC organizations which seeks to make protection of Texas’ environment a top priority among candidates and public officials.  The successful candidate for CEO will have strong communication,   leadership, team building communication and management skills as well as an entrepreneurial bent. He or she will be politically savvy, visionary and be committed to the protection of the environment.  The Executive Director will be hired by and report to the c (4) Board of Directors.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Ø      Working with the Board to raise a combined annual budget of $300,000 with particular responsibility for major donor cultivation and solicitation.

Ø      Working with the board and other stakeholders to develop and implement a long-range strategic campaign plan

Ø      Developing and implementing a state-wide electoral strategy.

Ø      Implementing necessary business systems (i.e.: budgeting, accounting, personnel policies, etc.)

Ø      Hiring and supervising staff and consultants.

Ø      Working collaboratively with other organizations and interest groups to advance the organization’s public policy agenda.

 

Relevant Qualifications and Experience:

 

Ø      Major donor fundraising experience required.

Ø      Strong leadership skills required.

Ø      Strong organizational development skills required.

Ø      Strong communication, media, public speaking skills required.

Ø      Supervisory and hiring experience required.

Ø      Non-Profit management experience preferred

Ø      Issue and candidate political campaign experience preferred.

Ø      Experience working with boards preferred.

Ø      Experience with environmental advocacy and environmental issues preferred.

Ø      Lobbying/Legislative experience desirable.

Ø      Experience in leading organizational change desirable.

Ø      Experience with all forms of electronic communication and using the internet as an organizing tool desirable.

Ø      Knowledge of/Experience with Texas environmental issues desirable.

Ø      Knowledge of/Experience with Texas politics desirable.

 

Location: Austin

 

Compensation:  Competitive salary and benefits depending on experience and leadership ability.

 

Availability:  This job opening is effective April 4, 2008 and will remain open until otherwise determined by the board of directors.  We seek to have the successful candidate start by July 1, 2008.
