Job Announcement - Executive Director

 

The Illinois League of Conservation Voters seeks an Executive Director for its organization.  Desired applicants will have managed an organization/business/etc. and shown success in that endeavor.  The applicant must be a self-starter who can develop a business plan and implement that plan with little oversight or day-to-day guidance.  Further, the applicant must be willing to operate in a non-partisan manner.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Political Fundraising/Public Affairs Experience – The applicant must have the following proven abilities. 

§         Political/Non-profit fundraising experience a must

§         501c3 and 501c4 fundraising experience preferred                                                    

§         Ability to recruit and manage staff, volunteers and interns effectively

§         A strong understanding of the legislative process and the advancement of policy

§         Political and/or issue advocacy campaign management experience

§         Communication experience

 

Enabler of the Board – The applicant will be expected to consult board members for advice beyond only fundraising capabilities.  The applicant must have good managerial skills.  He/she must be able to tap each board member’s unique capabilities for the benefit of the organization.  Further the applicant will be expected to have: 

§         Strong interpersonal communication

§         Ability to work with and through others to meet organizational goals and objectives

 

General Administration – The applicant will also be able to successfully manage all day-to-day operations including, but not limited to the following: data management, web site development and maintenance, accounting, grant writing, public and membership outreach, organizational and legal documentation, infrastructure and capacity building, handling all matters relating to press, relationship building with donors and general office operations etc.

 

    

Location:               Chicago, IL

Compensation:     Competitive salary and benefits depending on experience and leadership ability; anticipated salary range is $50,000.
