New Mexico Field Director
General Description:
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is hiring a field director for its independent campaign in New Mexico to help elect Congressman Tom Udall to the U.S. Senate and to support conservation leaders in the state legislature. Conservation Voters New Mexico (CVNM) will also be engaged in the state-level campaigns. We are running a multi-layered grassroots campaign in the Albuquerque-metro area, with the main focus being a targeted door-to-door canvass. In addition to the canvass, the campaign will likely include voter research and targeting, direct mail, phone, paid media, and a rigorous post-election evaluation.
The field director will serve as the campaign’s lead staffer in-state and will be a key member of the overall leadership team.
Specific (Essential) Responsibilities:
· Manage canvass operation that includes both paid and volunteer canvassers, which includes ensuring that canvassers are properly trained and that daily canvass goals are met.
· Oversee 3-5 field organizers responsible for meeting daily and weekly recruit goals.
· Work closely with CVNM staff and LCV staff to ensure that both short-term electoral goals and long-term organizational goals are met.
· Assist in the planning and execution of earned media events, which includes identifying appropriate media opportunities, securing staging locations and recruiting local participants.
Requirements:
Education: College degree
Work Experience: Ideal applicants must posses previous field organizing and/or political campaign experience, as well as exceptional leadership, management, and organizational skills. In addition, applicants must possess a car.
The position starts ASAP and will continue through 11/15. Pay will be $3,000 - $4,000 per month depending on experience.
This is a short-term, temporary employment position based in Albuquerque, NM.
