Description

The New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (NYLCVEF), a nonprofit, nonpartisan environmental political organization, seeks a full-time New York City Program Manager to coordinate a strategic outreach effort to environment-minded voters in New York City.  The position will also work to increase the organization’s visibility in neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs.  This job will be based in the New York City office, and travel throughout the city is required. 

 

Responsibilities

The New York City Program Manager will oversee day-to-day management of NYLCVEF’s New York City program, which includes:

·         Developing and implementing a strategic plan for voter outreach targeting specific communities throughout the five boroughs

·         Working closely with the New York City Chapter Board and staff to implement the plan

·         Educating community leaders about NYLCVEF’s policy agenda, local environmental issues and how civic responsibility can benefit the environment

·         Coordinating registered voter volunteers around environmental issues in the 2009 election

·         Identifying speaking, tabling, membership recruiting and other visibility opportunities

·         Working with Communications Director to expand NYLCVEF’s online presence

·         Establishing connections both online as well as through direct contact with groups such as educational, community-based, political and religious institutions

 

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience. Ideal candidate will have knowledge of New York City governmental structure, established city connections and an interest in New York City environmental issues and politics.  Experience in nonprofit advocacy programs or political campaigns are a plus.  Must have excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) skills and the ability to motivate others. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with excellent time and project management skills is essential. Strong computer skills, including database and Internet proficiency, are desired.
