Wyoming Executive Director
Executive Director Position Available
Wyoming Conservation Voters and the Wyoming Conservation Voters Education Fund, allied statewide nonpartisan environmental advocacy organizations with a strong political focus, seek a dynamic leader to serve as joint CEO. The organizations are, respectively, 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) nonprofit groups which seek to make protection of Wyoming’s environment a top priority among public officials and voters.
The successful candidate for CEO will have strong communication, leadership, people, problem solving and management skills as well as an entrepreneurial bent. He or she will be politically savvy and have demonstrated a commitment to using political processes to protect Wyoming’s environment, and an ability to empathize with diverse coalition partners and facilitate their collaboration.
The Executive Director will be hired by and report to both organizations’ Boards of Directors.
Responsibilities include:
Ø Working with the Boards to raise and manage an annual budget of $300,000+, with particular responsibility for major-donor cultivation and solicitation.
Ø Working with the board and other stakeholders to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan.
Ø Developing and implementing a state-wide civic engagement strategy.
Ø Implementing necessary business systems (i.e.: budgeting, accounting, personnel policies, etc.).
Ø Hiring and supervising staff.
Ø Working collaboratively with other organizations and interest groups to effectively advocate public policy to protect Wyoming’s natural resources.
Relevant Qualifications and Experience:
- Successful fundraising experience required
- Experience managing a small nonprofit organization required
- Legislative and public-policy advocacy experience required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Electoral campaign experience required
- Experience working with volunteer boards preferred
- Financial management experience preferred
- Organizing experience preferred
- Spokesman/media relations experience preferred
- Understanding of Wyoming and the Intermountain West desired
- Understanding of Nonprofit Organization legal structures desired
- Basic comfort with technological equipment & database software desired
Location: Casper or Cheyenne
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits depending on experience and leadership ability.
Availability: This job opening is effective August 1, 2008 and will remain open until September 2, 2008 unless otherwise determined by the Boards of Directors. We seek to have the successful candidate start by November 1, 2008.
