Executive Director Position Available
The Ohio League of Conservation Voters, a state-wide bi-partisan environmental advocacy organization with a strong political focus, seeks dynamic leader to serve as CEO. The OLCV is an alliance of a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC organizations which seeks to make protection of Ohio’s environment a top priority among candidates and public officials. The successful candidate for CEO will have strong communication, leadership, team building communication and management skills as well as an entrepreneurial bent. He or she will be politically savvy, visionary and be committed to the protection of the environment. The Executive Director will be hired by and report to the Board of Directors of the Ohio League of Conservation Voters and the
Ohio League of Conservation Voters Education Fund.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with the Board to raise and expand the current combined annual budgetof $300,000 with particular responsibility for major donor cultivation andsolicitation.
- Leading the board, staff and stakeholders to develop and implement a strategicplan.
- Developing and implementing a state-wide electoral strategy.
- Implementing necessary business systems (i.e.: budgeting, accounting, personnelpolicies, etc.)
- Hiring and supervising staff and consultants.
- Working collaboratively with other organizations and interest groups to advance the organization’s public policy agenda.
Relevant Qualifications and Experience:
- Major donor fundraising experience required.
- Strong leadership skills required.
- Strong organizational development skills required.
- Strong communication, media, public speaking skills required.
- Experience with legislative process preferred.
- Supervisory and hiring experience preferred.
- Non-Profit management experience preferred.
- Experience with a range of fundraising vehicles preferred.
- Issue and candidate political campaign experience preferred.
- Experience working with boards preferred.
- Experience with environmental advocacy and environmental issues preferred.
- Lobbying/Legislative experience desirable.
- Experience in leading organizational change desirable.
- Experience with all forms of electronic communication and using the internet asan organizing tool desirable.
- Knowledge of/Experience with Ohio environmental issues desirable.
- Knowledge of/Experience with Ohio politics desirable.
Location: Columbus, OH
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits depending on experience and leadership ability.
Availability: This job opening is effective June 16, 2008 and will remain open until July 16 or otherwise determined by the board of directors. We seek to have the successful candidate start by August 18, 2008.
